Custom Posters and Flyers to Help Promote with Your New CD

Even if you build it. . .they won’t necessarily come. It may be hard to swallow, but it’s true. You may have recorded the world’s greatest music on a CD, produced the most informative documentary on a DVD, or perhaps designed the most comprehensive course of study on a Blu-ray disc, accompanied by intelligent and well-wrought literature. But if your intended audience doesn’t know about the existence of your masterwork. . . well, you could be left with a stack of remainders.

No matter what you’ve sung, filmed or written, you still need to advertise your efforts in a way that catches the public’s eye. And for hundreds of years posters and flyers have been used to attract the attention of passers-by, enticing them to attend an event, or buy a particular product or service. Simply put, a poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. A flyer is any piece of printed paper designed to be handed out, mailed, or left in a place where the public is certain to find it.

Although posters have been around for a very long time – Shakespeare advertised his plays with them – their golden age began in the late 1800s with the development of printing techniques that allowed for their cheap mass production and full-color printing. Soon, posters became respected as serious forms of art, in and of themselves, in addition to their usefulness as an advertising medium. In fact, many of the foremost artists of the day designed the posters that filled the public streets, markets and squares of Europe and the United States.

And even though posters were eventually eclipsed by newer forms of advertising – magazines, radio, television, and billboards come to mind – their second golden age coincided with the cultural revolution of the 1960s and 70s. If you are old enough to remember those days, you undoubtedly also recall how almost every teenager of that generation plastered his or her bedroom walls or dorm room with posters of a favorite rock ‘n roll band. And many of those concert posters, today, have become sought-after collectors’ items.

In addition, the motion picture industry has advertised its wares by way of posters, pretty much continuously, since the earliest days of silent films, right up until today’s latest blockbuster. No form of movie advertising has been more successful at getting people into the cinema than the large, colorful posters encased in glass, and mounted on the outside walls of the neighborhood multiplex.

So, after you’ve come to Bison Disc for your CD or DVD duplication and/or packaging, don’t forget to ask about our custom posters and flyers. We can design and print full color, high quality posters on 11 X 17 inch poster paper, or on thick card stock for a classy, professional look. Our flyers come in two sizes: 8.5 X 11 inches, and 5.5 X 8.5 inches. They are available with single or double sided printing, with optional UV coating.

The bottom line is this: If you build it. . .they will come – but only if you tell them where they need to go!
